Irish Pop Group & Boy Band Westlife

Westlife hold the record for being the first act in British history to have 4 number 1 singles in a year. They have had 14 number 1 hits and their first 7 singles all went to number 1 as well. They have sold over 40 million albums worldwide to date.

Formed on 3rd July, 1998, the line up of Sligo and Dublin boys originally consisted of Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Shane Filan and Bryan Mc Fadden.

Signed by Simon Cowell and managed by Louis Walsh, both of X-Factor fame, the boys went from strength to strength singing both their own material and some cover versions.

Bryan Mc Fadden left, amid a blaze of publicity in 2004 to concentrate on solo projects and to spend more time with his family.

The band has won numerous awards like Best Irish Pop Act and ITV Record of the Year and Biggest Selling Arena Act in the U.K.
