Ireland Transport – Getting Around

Whenever you arrive in Ireland you will need to know exactly how you are going to get from A - B depending on your vacation plans, Ireland is a small country so getting around is not difficult.

Using Taxis

Like most countries, taxis in Ireland use the clock, especially in cities and large towns.
Their fares can be reasonable but if you end up stuck in Dublin rush hour traffic; it can be an expensive trip.

The two major bus companies that serve customers in Ireland are Bus Éireann & Ulsterbus with Bus Éireanns main Depot in Dublin and Ulsterbus in Belfast. The public service of Bus Éireann & Ulsterbus and have very reasonable rates and offer a wider service around Ireland than any other bus service. Many bus services serve local airports from private bus hire companies to airport shuttle buses, rates are very reasonable.

Train Services in Ireland

The two train operating companies in Ireland are Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) & Northern Ireland Railways (NIR). Belfast - Dublin serves an excellent train route at reasonable rates and although train routes are not as wide as the bus services they do serve most of the major cities in Ireland.
