Hill of Tara Protests
It must be a proud moment for Dick Roche (Minister for the Environment), Martin Cullen (Minister for Transport), Bertie Ahern (The Taoiseach) and all those involved with the decision of destroying the ancient heritage of Ireland as protests have started on the Hill Of Tara.
After a long legal challenge by locals, who have not yet given up, the diggers have now moved in and have started ripping up the ancient landscape that surrounds the Hill Of Tara and for what? Another flipping motorway that isn’t even needed in this area.
So what is so important about the Hill Of Tara and the surrounding area? It has played an extremely important role in Ireland’s history from 2000 BC and was once the seat for the Kings of Ireland, but that is only a small part of its story. With such an ancient history in this area archaeologists still haven’t been able to figure out the full mystery behind the Hill Of Tara. With the motorway being constructed only 0.75 miles from the hill you can be sure we will never find out the full history behind this landscape.
Irish Government on a roll
This isn’t the first time the Irish Government has took the decision in destroying our heritage and it certainly wont be the last, if these clowns have anything to do with it.
Sure Martin Cullen has already made a complete mess with the motorway down at Fermoy in Cork. According to the RTE Martin Cullen made a promise the new toll by-pass would be used by 17,000 vehicles a day and would lift the bottle necks around Fermoy. After costing €300 million many drivers are avoiding the motorway like the plague and yes the bottle necks in Fermoy still exist today, job well done Martin.
Even though drug crime, gun crime and gang wars are up (yes they are Michael McDowell) in Ireland the government seem to be more concerned over Irish roads and the traffic problems but they still cant figure out the solution.
What is really funny is how the Irish Government can waste so many resources on using the Garda Siochana to direct traffic in Dublin when our over stretched crime fighters make matter worse in terms of traffic. One would think that Bertie Ahern & friends never heard about employing traffic wardens to take care of inner city traffic and let the Garda Siochana fight the crime in Ireland.
I am very angry about the whole Hill Of Tara affair and if I had a car I would probably join the locals in their daily protests. Like many other from around the globe I have always loved visiting the Hill Of Tara and the surrounding areas such as the Boyne valley and fantastic New Grange, this whole area should be preserved in beauty not destroyed by greedy politicians.
