Salmon Fishing in Ireland

One thing I love to do in Ireland is pack up some sandwiches, a flask of hot soup, some fishing tackle and head off for a spot of Salmon fishing in County Donegal.

I find that fishing in Ireland is probably the best stress relief anyone can try and no matter if its sunny or raining you can be sure that a full day relaxing is exactly what the doctor ordered.

The scenery in Ireland also helps make a fishing trip an amazing past time and when it does rain the scenery can be become breath taking, especially if you are doing a spot of seas fishing.

Usually my fishing lures are nothing special and picked up at the local fishing store, my one being O Neill’s Shop in Bridge End just over the Northern Irish border from Derry. From there you can almost go in any direction for some great Salmon rivers and it’s usually a bonus if you find a quite river with a Salmon leap, watching Salmon fight against the river to make it up stream is often something I wonder why? To catch the Salmon leap you will need to catch it specific times of the year.
