No Free Speech In Ireland
Its terrible news that Irelands biggest online community forum, boards.ie, is facing legal action from MCD after concert goers of the Oxygen festival gave their opinions on what they experienced at the last Oxygen festival, which MCD didn’t like apparently.
Everyday we are seeing more and more online communities around the globe receive legal threats due to opinions made by users who simply share their views on their own experiences which simply these “companies” don’t know how to handle negative feedback and legal action seems to be the easy way out for them.
Why don’t these companies speak up and try to understand why people give them negative feedback? Trying to fight against the power of free speech can only make them look bad to the public and their past customers.
Hearing the news regarding MCD is a first for me and I am surprised that we are seeing this in Ireland, there was me thinking this country is better than most because we can speak our minds but it seems not anymore.
