Irish Immigration during the famine
For years thousands of Irish people have immigrated from Ireland to various parts of the globe for a number of reasons, most possibly its in our blood to travel but also we seem to love the experience of meeting and learning about different cultures.
In the dark days of Ireland the Great Potato Famine was the cause for millions of Irish immigrating to America, Canada and various other places. Risking their lives during travel in what is known as Coffin Ships, many people died in these ships so the name was appropriate for the time.
See our Irish Immigration page for more information on Irish Immigration during the Great Potato famine.
