Irish American Traditions for St Patricks Day
With St Patrick’s Day only around the corner some places have already kicked off the celebrations.
At the moment I am sitting in Syracuse New York and have learnt that today is Green Beer Sunday in the city.
The day started off at 12 noon with a huge tanker full of green beer being escorted into the Irish community, Tipperary Hill, by a pipe band and Irish dancers which was led down to the local Irish pub, Coleman’s.
Its tradition that locals gather around the tanker when Peter Coleman, the owner of the Coleman’s Irish Pub, serves the first glass of green beer and hands out free green beer to his customers.
Green beer is available to customers from today right up to St Patrick’s Day with lots of events happening in and around the Tipperary Hill area.
