Easter Sunday - Ireland Remembers

Easter Sunday here in New York has been very quiet, well at least in my apartment. No real celebrating done here and not even an Easter egg to eat.

I didn’t mind though as I’ve just lazed about watching TV with a showing of Blown Away on cable, believe it or not.

Having the amazing skills of multi-tasking I was able to get online and read up on today’s events in Ireland with the remembering of 1916. It’s always been a subject that has interested me but to also take pride in what the men of 1916 like Padraig Pearce and James Connolly did for the people of Ireland.

Ramblings of a defiant Irishwomen go onto answer her son’s questions on how she felt about the 1916 Easter Rising. Maisey’s family was that of mixed religious backgrounds which is very common in Ireland. Her grandfather was a British Soldier at the time of the 1916 rising with her Grandmother being a Catholic.

United Irelander went onto providing everyone an insight to the 1916 Easter Rising along with Ireland.com adding their own historic coverage of the events.

RTE reported that 120,000 attend the parade in Dublin to remember the 1916 Rising with BBC reporting the wreath laying ceremonies in Armagh, Tyrone and Derry in the North of Ireland and also Donegal in the neighboring Republic of Ireland.
