Dublin samples a Bite of Northern Ireland Troubles.
Unfortunately today in Ireland has had a taste of yearly troubles that Northern Ireland experiences with the marching of the Orange Order.
Today 1,000 loyalists had planned to march into Dublin City centre as their reason being was for the Love Ulster March. The parade would be escorted with six loyalist bands, members of the DUP party, Unionists and the Orange Order.
The march was cancelled after a counter demonstration was held by Republicans that clashed with the Irish police force, Garda Síochána
While it was terrible site to see Dublin faced with the troubles from the North a number of questions has to be asked for the real reasons why this happened.
In my humble opinion Justice Minister, Michael McDowell should be held responsible for every minute of the trouble and should resign.
From the beginning this march had too much an Anti-Irish overtone to it with two fingers up at the Republicans North and South of the divide but also to the average Irish person who hold no political view point on the unification of Ireland.
The Love Ulster parade was to be held for the victims of IRA violence but big questions need to be asked as why did bring along six loyalist bands? I am sure if it was average people from the protestant community of the North and not loyalists and unionists this trouble wouldn’t have happen.
We can’t forget that Loyalists in Northern Ireland still have not disarmed when Republicans have and want to move forward with politics.
Every year across Northern Ireland thousands of loyalists parades take place with the majority having trouble attached. See An insight to Loyalist Bigotry
The DUP, who also attended the march, have said no to the Good Friday agreement and refuse to get sit with Republicans for political talks.
We all know the North and South are running into unification soon and that Britain no longer has an interest in Northern Ireland. The Unionists know this and are now backing themselves into a corner so they now need to play their cards smartly which they are doing so rightly. Loyalists knew if they were to march Dublin there would be protests and what batter way to make Republicans look bad?
Its time for the British and the Irish to ban these loyalists parades as they are basically keeping bigotry alive in Ireland, North and South.

Banning parades does nothing, it just forces the animosity under the carpet. Better planning and more self-constraint is the way to go.

Reunification soon huh? Has anyone bothered to ask those of us in the Republic if we want to unify? What’s in it for us - yesterday we had a taste of what it would mean. I’ve more in common with the Eastern Europeans driving our taxis than I have with someone from nationalist Derry.

Isn’t at shame that people from the South can sit at a safe distance and scrutinise the North of Ireland. It was down to geographics that the partitian line fell where it did - people in the South must’nt forget, it could have been placed anywhere…
