All Business And No Ryder Cup

The past week has been a busy one on my side with having to travel on business, not that I am complaining as I love traveling and its good to get out of the hectic life of Dublin City.

It all started last week when the boss leaped into the office suggesting I pack the bags and head down to Cork with my co-worker Seamus to meet some clients. Not bad, I thought as I always fancied some traveling in Cork but unfortunately on this occasion it was not for site seeing.

Yet again, I am faced with finding a hotel in a place I know nothing about and my co-worker, Seamus, was not much help when he suggested we pitch a tent in a field. I am sure our clients would have loved to hear we were on a business camping trip.

I poked around the website for Hotel Ireland but really could not figure out which cork hotels to select from, I did not want to book somewhere that was too far out from the clients. I decided to give the hotel site a jangle on the phone as they were extremely helpful with my visit to Galway and within a matter of minutes they had us booked into
Isaacs hotel in Cork City, great a 5 minute walk from the clients site.

I did not get to watch any of the Ryder Cup (well-done Europe) which was a disappointment but the business trip did pay off with an extended contract, which was well worth missing the golf at the K-Club.

Once back in Dublin I received a phone call from our worried boss that more clients were coming over from England and needed accommodation quickly, yes I now have become a hotels reservation rep for my company. After calling around some Dublin hotels I was starting to think I wouldn’t find anything but then it hit me, try the Clarence hotel just beside Temple Bar and I am sure our clients would be delighted to stay in the hotel that is owned by U2 – fingers crossed they have rooms this week.

Our boss is keeping Seamus and myself busy with meeting clients, another business trip this weekend to Limerick and I haven’t even started looking for hotels.
