Description Shane MacGowan first came to prominence as the frontman and principal songwriter of the The Pogues writing huge international hits such as "Fairytale Of New York" and "The Irish Rover". After splitting from the band in 1991 he reappeared with a new band, the Popes, who released their debut album "The Snake" in 1995. He remains an iconic figure in Irish music. Shane is in great form here, He even break dances at one point and does some nice go-go dance moves during one tune. The Popes sound great and look like they are having a lot of fun during this show. It's also nice to hear some songs from the first Pogues album as well as a few choice covers. If you love Shane pick up this DVD pour a dark one and enjoy.
Fantastic! January 31, 2008 Chris Weingold (Portland Oregon) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Buy this DVD and get ready to party!
Straight Ahead Concert Film April 10, 2008 R. J. Marsella (California) No Frills- Just Shane fronting the Popes and doing some of the numbers he and the Pogues made classics as well as a few lesser known tunes.
Shane sounds great , the band is solid and the camera angles and film quality is straight ahead- no fancy stuff.
If you're a fan of Shane and the Pogues you'll love it, even as you wish it were the Pogues themselves.

Great concert for the Shane fans in all of us. Thnks to Montreux. Now if they could just release a video of the Guiness Fleadh concert in NY on Randall's Island. It rained so much that it became a mudbath! Shane still rocked that night. That was awesome!
